Year 1 of the Academy Select program focuses on individual player development, as outlined in the Academy Select Overview.
Sessions have a focus on individual skill development and simple tactical decisions. This is drawn from the 2 year curriculum that has been developed by the club, in alignment with the Long Term Development Pathway that EDGE implements across all ages.
A sample week is outlined below:
Team/Pool Practice 1 – 75 minute session with Head Coach.
Sample Session
Team/Pool Practice 2 – 75 minute session with Head Coach.
Sample Session
Free Play Friday – 60 minute session with RCE Staff Trainers/AS Coaches
Players from 9U & 10U practice together with a focus on playing the game. Coaching focus on this night is more about facilitating the games with reminders of what was covered in the 2 team/pool practices. This gives players the freedom to express themselves and also demonstrate an understanding of the program objectives.
