Edge Soccer Club

Dear Parents, Players, and Coaches:
     This is a plea for volunteer peer coaches for the TopSoccer program.  Edge has the largest TopSoccer program in Colorado and is dependent on the Edge players to provide the peer coaching for the special needs players involved.  There are many benefits associated with volunteering:  community service requirements for school, college and job applications, letters of recommendation, but the most valuable benefit is the reward of knowing that you are important to the lives of these players.  The peer coaches and volunteers give these players the opportunity to play soccer as a part of a team, make lasting friendships, get healthy exercise, and to learn and grow.  It is an extremely rewarding endeavor for all.  Jill Polito and I enjoy watching the interactions between the peer coaches and the special needs players.  It is a delight for all involved.
     Please help us recruit volunteers by getting the word out.  It is a short time commitment but a very meaningful one.  We do ask that the volunteers be committed to making games and practices whenever possible because we can't operate without a large crew.  Be aware that there may be times when it seems we have too many volunteers, but more often, we are very short of helpers and it has a huge impact on the quality of the experience for the special needs players.  The ability and age span is huge, but we are getting more and more younger players who require one-on-one help.
     We will be starting on April 11 and the program will run for 6 weeks.  Practices are on Fridays from 5-6:00 p.m. and games are on Saturdays from 4-5:00 p.m. on Fields 4, 5 & 6 by the front entrance at Stenger.  We will play the TopSoccer team from Rush on the last Saturday, May 17, with a pizza party to follow.
